Eliminating junk/spam pop ups etc

I have been inundated lately with spam (especially win....anti-spam stuff) and am afetr a recommended free anti virus/anti spam. I already have and use AVG anti virus and Ad adaware SE. However I think I/m getting some stuff that these won't get rid of. Could anyone help please? I see avast offers a free home only anti-virus; any good? Thanks a lot,

Neither adaware or AVG will offer spam protection. Use Outlook Express? If so, try changing to Thunderbird. It's free, and after training the spam filter a little you'll find it becomes very good:
