Does anybody know how much the search fees are to find out how much it would be to buy a small piece of land next to my property. I've heard it could cost between 300 and 1000. Can anyone verify this or know of anyone who has bought land and give me a precise figure?

I think you are very confused.

Are you asking how much it would cost to get a valuation or somthing else?

No, i'm wondering how much the search fees are. Apparantly thats the first step to buying the land.
Then you are confused. You can get on the Land Registry website and for a few pounds (about 3) you can get an online download of who owns the land. But that tells you who owns it. To buy it you have to negotiate with the owner. You could get a formal valuation from an ARICS (and this might cost a hundred or so pounds, but that still doesn't mean that;s what you'd pay. The owner might noit want to sell until you pumped up the price.
buildersmate has put it in a nutshell.
