I'm trying to install Mcafee Internet Suite 2007. The virus checker won't install - It says I have a programme on my comp 'AD Watch SE Plus' which conflicts with it, so won't install that part. It says something about Norman too if this helps. I've searched my comp but cannot find that programme. I'm pretty good with computers but this has got me struggling. Can anyone help me find it ?

Have you got Ad-Aware, or any other Lavasoft products, installed?

That suggests that McAfee is detecting a component of Ad-Aware. So, try uninstalling it.

If you still have problems, I suggest forgetting about McAfee altogether. Like Norton, it's known to slow many PCs down. The free stuff (such as Zone Alarm Free + AVG Free Edition + Ad-Aware SE Personal) is not only as good as McAfee - it's better.

I don;t have any Lavasoft products installed. I got the comp 12 months ago and Norton was pre-installed. The subscription is due for renewal and as it was expensive, I decided to go elsewhere ie: Mcafee.
I've got the rest of the internet suite installed except for the virus checker. Can I download a virus checker from the internet, that's will run alongside Mcafee ? Or do I need to uninstall the lot and start again with someone else ?
Unless someone can solve your McAfee problem, it would be easier to uninstall everything and start again. You should never have 2 anti-virus programs operating simultaneously. Even though you haven't got McAfee anti-virus running, it's possible that the existing components of McAfee might conflict with anything else you install.

To uninstall McAfee you'll need to download special software from their website. For this, and links to all of the free security software which you might need, see here:

I'm in the procss of uninstalling McAfee, and will got the Zone Alarm & AVG you suggest. Thanks for your help - I wish everyone knew about these free programmes - people are just being ripped off by these big companies like McAfee and Norton who sell their products for 30-40, wen you can get a superior product for free.
