The plan is for the mosque to be so big that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will it see it as the biggest landmark in London.

Take a second to cast your vote in the Evening Standard online poll
To determine public opinion about whether a mega mosque should be Built for the Olympics.

The vote so far is 56 % in favour. It looks like the Muslim
Community is casting its vote in droves.

After voting, forward this to as many people as
You can. Here's the link:

No the Romans, or maybe the Vikings or the dinosaurs, you know what i mean.
I believe the Saxons (Germans) were here before the Vikings...not sure though as my history leaves little to be desired!

Funny, there is just one Italian family living in my road. There is also a Kosovan family, a Swedish family, a Chinese family, two Irish families and the guy across the road comes from Spain.

No Asians or Muslims at all.

yup, Saxons first, Vikings later... Pippa, the Kosovans might be Muslims, some are.
Hi jno, no the Kosovan neighbours are Catholic ~ I am a very friendly neighbour, and having lived here for 12 years I get to know them all.

Oh ok, I am nosey ;o)

Actually, thinking about it further I have never asked any of the *Anglo Saxons* their religions...some may well have converted to Islam, you never know.
the british were a bit 'drab' before 1950 - because there were 2 world wars!!!

what do you expect? they were living on rations!

i can just see you dressed up like a peacock as bombs fall all around you...

i might also add that most of the images that people of today know of the war are in BLACK & WHITE, and SEPIA, or very faded so of course they look dull!!!

that is a ridiculous thing to use as a negative against the british.
nosiness is good, Pippa, knowing your neighbours is what stops imagining that people from different places must all be monsters out to get us.
I totally agree jno.

We are all quite chatty around here anyway, nd luckily none of us judge a book by it's cover ;o)

Although we are all trying to find out about a particular Anglo Saxon across the road. They only come out at night, their curtains are drawn all day, black bin bags are piled high in the back garden & strange smoke keeps permeating out of the chimney.

I feel we have a '' The 'Burbs'' situation going on and the family have been given the nickname 'The Klopeks'.
Pippa68 do you live in Islington? I'd guess you don't live in Alum Rock.
I live in West Sussex..and it isn't as 'sleepy' as is believed ;o)
I will vote no to the poll, I beleive something should be built which could please everyone maybe a rescue centre for all the unwanted pets people leave to die on the streets everyday, maybe charity shops or just a nice community park - I vote for that, people flying to the olympics can see we still have some grass left and we have not built on every piece of land possible.

...look mummy grass, I never thought it would look so nice...quick take a photo!
I do object to a Mosque being our largest landmark in London when it will cost an absolute fortune to the taxpayer which is money that could go on the NHS that serves all or education for all different religions. It will also be a building mainly used by Muslim men as men and women cannot pray together. It will also do no good for race relations in this country as people will turn even more on Muslim people when they see this being built. What next will they build landmarks for the polish, romanians, bulgarians and aynone else.If this happens it will just never end.
