Dramatic music used in tv programmes

I have heard a piece of music in a few tv programmes and would love to know what it is. It is used in scenes that require drama or tension, and I think I have heard it used in the apprentice (when the fired candidate is leaving), in top gear (when there is a powerful car being tested) and I think I have also heard it on the gadget show. The piece consists of a delicate classical sounding piano arpeggio that then kicks into a thumping beat with dramatic strings and bass that provide a four-note ascending melody, before falling back down to just the piano. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Hmmm... the music played as a fired candiate is leaving is actually specially composed (it's by Dru Masters). You might be looking for "Clubbed To Death" by Rob Dougan, it's got the piano thing and four-note melody thing and is played a ridiculous amount on TV programmes. Top Gear likes to use this and other tracks from Rob Dougan's album "Furious Angels" a lot.
You can hear the "Clubbed To Death" here:
