has anyone out there been on the queen Mary. For sheer opulence it looks really good value, cheaper than a four star hotel but you are actually going somewhere etc. I am concerned that once you are on there you are a captive audience. Do they charge riduculous amounts for things like a glass of beer?

I used to work onboard cruise ships depending on what the currency is onboard it can be cheap but you will have avariety of bars with varying prices but then that is all you woul dhave to pay for. Most other things are free eg soft drinks
I have not used Queen Mary but I don't think QE2 prices from last August will be much different. These prices are direct from their "Bar List" plus you must add 15% service charge to everything you buy draught , Lager or bitter ( Stella or Smiths) pint $3.95 half $2.25 Guinness pint $4.25 half $2.50, bottles and cans do work out a bit heavy but overall I found prices to be about pub prices at home, mind you I live in the South East. gin and tonic @ $4.25 (they don't charge for the tonic) I thought was a good thing. Wine can be expensive but again we managed to sort a very nice one at about 12 a bottle. You will love it ,wonderful service makes prices even for someone as skint as me seem cheap.
Hi there,

My mates stayed on the Queen Mary a few months ago they said it wasn't too expensive at all - There's the Sir Winston's Restaurant and the Chelsea - which are alittle expensive.

The Promenade Cafe which does meals and sandwiches etc and also the Observation Bar - they do cocktails and have some sort of relatively cheesy entertainment.

They said there's a bakery, deli, pizza bar and an ice-cream parlour!

I think it caters for pretty much all budgets... It's supposed to be haunted also!
