Ok. Ready! This is one my sister makes because it is so simple.
She uses canned waterchestnuts, and bacon cut in half. (you can also use procuto)

Wrap each water chestnut in a stip of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Set each "wrap" on a wire rack placed on a cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven till bacon is crispy. Be sure to put a little water in the cookie sheet.
Dunno how original but as comfort food i used to cook some sausages/bacon. Then cut 2 thick slabs of bread, dip them in 2 beaten eggs (a la eggy bread) so they were dripping then place one slice in a frying pan (oil or butter) then placing the sausage (cut length ways depending on size)/bacon then if feeling extra unhealthy some cheese and left over egg. Then the final slice on top and press down and flip over once the bottom slice had gone crispy and do the same for the top slice.
Hmmmmmmmm, heart attack breakfast sarnie.
get as many slices of bread as required....preferably "cut your own"

Pop into a toaster until brown and crispy

Smother in inch deep butter

Eat whilst hot

Probably the best snack in the world !!!!!!!!!
I do the same as TML1112 but using dried apricots instead of water chestnuts.

Another....get some new or baby potatoes and cut them in half.

Place on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil and runny honey and sprinkle with dried or fresh thyme (lemon thyme would be good too) and roast in the oven for half hour turning/shaking once to make sure the spuds are coated in oil/honey
Boil some pasta in salted water

Chop up veg/fruit of your choice....i always used finely sliced onion, peppers, mushrooms, tin of sweetcorn, tin of peas and pineapple.

Drain pasta when cooked, throw in the veggies and sprinkle dried oregano all over

Bung in a big jar of mayonaise and mix the lot together.

Ideal with a jacket spud or some potato wedges and only takes 20 mins....do enough and keep it in the fridge for a couple of days to pick on.
