Average (non-business) mileage (a nonsense term really!) is often put at 10,000 - 12,000 miles per year.

A W reg car is 6� - 7 years old.

NORMAN - just out of interest how have you come at that figure ?

It always seems that whenever you are selling to a salesman they will tell you 12,000 a year is excessive and if you are buying 15,000 a year is average !

Ahem... the Cougar is not a Mondeo only if you ignore that they share the same chassis, floorpan, suspension, running gear, steering, engines, etc.

just to let you know i have taken it for a long test drive today, and it was great, not a murmur really fast and smooth, the milage not a big deal i only do 2,000 a year so i will keep it down over time, but it is in fantastic condition engine wise and bodywork

I think NORMANTHEDOG was implying that coupe drivers do not use their car as often as saloon drivers.

kempie - thank you very much for your advice, i have bought the cougar with confidence, and as there were no major warnings about the Cougar im happy with my decision. thanks to all who replied. Now all i have to do is part with my beloved ford N reg escort.

Any idea how much to ask for 96 N Reg Ford Escort only 52,ooo miles, excellent runner, always passes mot, and runs practicaly on fresh air, really economical. Good condition, maybe suitable for someone just learning to drive, apart from the fact it does not have power steering
