renault scenic 1998 key code problemt

my keys have stopped operating my immobiliser despite new batterys.
I have found out from the net how to input the 4 digit code but cannot find it anywhere.suggestions are that it could be on the label inside the drivers door,stamped on the keys printed cicuit or the key holder or on a label inside the key.
I cannot find a 4 digit number in any of these places ! They are either longer numbers or have letters in as well,can anyone help? please.

4 digit code should be on security card that came with vehicle, should tell you in owners handbook.

thanks,but the vehicle has had 5 previous owners and the handbook has disappeared along the way!

I have a similar problem: the immobiliser is blocked, I have the security code (it's a 4 digit number , no letters), but I do not know how to input it. Can you help me? I don't have the manual either.
