What kind of clothes should i wear on a holiday out in the countryside/desert in the US (Utah area) to avoid bites from the above? Presumably jeans are better than light trousers?

Ever thought of taking an old fashioned pair of bicycle clips to put round the bottom of your trousers ?might not look too fashionable but should stop the bu ****s.
