There are no quick fixes for a strained back!! The best thing for it is a heat pack and to lie flat on the floor for as long as possible. If you cover up the pain with painkillers then move as usual you could do even more damage to your back.

Make sure to look after your back next time, e.g. lifting properly and good posture. :)
ibuleave, or one of those heat patches? I would ask the pharmacist what is the strongest painkiller also you can buy over the counter. hope you get better soon.
that gel creme Ibuleve, its great! plus you can have a drink if your going out!

I shall be masking the pain for tonight, which I know is all bad but Im not not not missing out lol Thanks I forgot about the gels, shall go be getting myself some in a minute.
The best painkillers are high strength Ibroprofen tablets which are anti inflammatories but don't mix them with alcohol. If your back muscles are in spasm and locked tight, Diazapan is an excellent muscle relaxant as well as being a tranquilliser but this is normally on prescription only. And take a hot water bottle to bed with you tonight. the heat will help reduce the muscle strain.
Just a quick warning. If you're using a pain relieving gel which contains Ibuprofen, do not take Ibruprofen tablets as well, as this is a strong medication and you could risk overdosing by using both medications at the same time.
I did mine in last weekend digging and found the best remedy for it wasn't something you can buy over the counter..... aside from that Ibuprofen but not if your getting bevvyied. Also standing up straight and stretch as much as possible. Shrugging your shoulders while keeping your back straight will loosen you up. If you've got time go for a swim and do lots of stretching in the water, the bouyancy helps a lot. Failing all that come up and see me and I'll give you some reiki-massage, works a treat!
