Hi, i have a rabbit who is think has mites ( got vet app tomorrow) is it possible for humans to catch them, as my mother when ever she comes over always picks her up and they have a cuddle, now for the last few months she has had this raised bit on her nose which is spreading quite fast, sometimes it itches, could she have caught this. Thankyou

yes humans can catch mites and flees!! id get it sorted because when she picks up the rabbit the mites will get on her clothes and she will spread them to her house and where ever she goes.
Humans cannot actually act as a full-time host for fleas and mites - but they can get bitten by them. With the rabbit mites your other pets can also catch them so be careful if you've got other rabbits, dogs etc. ; 0 )
Also, you can tell if your rabbit has mites as usually it is behind the ears/neck area as this is the only place they cannot reach to groom and it will look like bad dandruff/scurf - good idea to take your bun to the vets as they give them an injection that should sort it out.
