low calories popcorn

many sites says popcorn is healthy, if it does not have lots of butter/sugar/salt added to it. is it still ok to 'pop' it in some oil though? or does this make it more calorific! (how else could i pop it; in water? or just nothing?)

If you can, buy Snack a Jacks popcorn. They do salted and toffee versions. Tasty and low in fat.

Microwave Popcorn

100 g unpopped popcorn (1/2 cup)
5 ml vegetable oil (Optional) (1 teaspoon) (Optional)
3 g salt, or to taste (1/2 teaspoon)
In a cup or small bowl, mix together the unpopped popcorn and oil. Pour the coated corn into a brown paper lunch sack, and sprinkle in the salt. Fold the top of the bag over twice to seal in the ingredients - leave it sitting upright (not on it�s side) in the microwave. Cook in the microwave at full power for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, or until you hear pauses of about 2 seconds between pops. Carefully open the bag to avoid steam, and pour into a serving bowl. If you would like, you can try spraying "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" on top to keep it low cal.
I like to mix some chilli powder in with the salt; jazzes up the flavour so you don't notice its low fat
i microwave my popping corn on it's own. Just cover the base of a microwave bowl, with a lid. Cook on full power until the popping stops. I eat it without anything, it was a bit odd at first, but i'm used to it now - delish!
