TV programme downlaods for iPod

Santa brought me an iPod for Christmas. I'm very disappointed to discover that I can't purchase TV programme episodes to watch on it as according to the iTunes shop this service is limited to USA! This is one of the things I was really looking forward to as I thought it's a legal way to get episodes of TV programmes that haven't come to the screen on this side of the Pond yet. Is there a way around this?

No idea how this video Ipod works, but the only way to watch US shows (like Lost, Scrubs) before they show in the UK, is to use a torrent and download it to a HDD for example.

Same thing for the Yanks if they want to watch Doctor Who etc
