I have just purchased a Dell computer. I have opted to instal it myself rather than pay them to do it. I am not a techie but have used a computer for many years and have in the past unplugged and plugged one together. Has anybody done this and can offer advice on what to do or not do? It will come with instructions but experience from someone else would be appreciated.

I bought my dell laptop online and i had to install it myself. It will come with a wizard which will talk you through it. I found it very easy and it only took a matter of minutes.

Thank you. That is reassuring.
I bought a dell pc last year and it came with all the software already installed, i thought this was standard, i didn't have anynoe set it up for me though it was just a case of plugging in all the cables and away you go.
it should just be a case of plugging all the wires in and turning it on then following a wizard, i'd advise you to remove all of the stuff dell put on their computers though it'll speed up your pc no end, :-)

Yes - the software will be installed already.

Streater - is there any particular software or junk that they might have installed that I should definately get rid of? I don't want to delete anything I might need.

Thanks
