I have just come back online and see that "haloed" has been given as the answer to 34a. I had put "haloeS" as this is an acceptable plural of halo, but now wonder if either option can be correct to the exclusion of the other?

Any advice most welcome! Thank you.

Depends on the clue.

If either fits equally well then they OUGHT to accept either. But it's quite possible an element of chance will be introduced by only accepting whichever the compiler though of first.

dzug It is simply a nativity picture clue with more than one subject with halo.
Having looked at the picture and the clue again there are actually two halos in the picture ! Albeit the one on the right is only half a halo ..so it's a bit iffy isn't it . It could be Haloes (plural) or haloed ..as in both the wise men are haloed .

I suppose the third one is hiding round the corner somewhere !
Hi sarumite, did you see my posting on poodledoo BHF question? Also I think the answer to no60 is zero as only names were listed and not numbers, it's worth checking out! Merry Christmas

Shaney, now that the after affects of the Cote du Rhone are slowly subsiding I can see that the baby Jesus is in fact not with halo as I had initially thought .... and the half halo looks as if it could be a reflection .. (but did they have glass at that time?) probably not ! Ohhhhhhhh I'm none the wiser, but does it really matter?? Thanks for your help and a very merrrrrrrrryyyy crimble to you. ;o]

Ternigapp, yes I did see your posting many thanks, but I am not actually doing the quiz, just looked for information after poodledoo posted his question.
A very happy Christmas to you also. (S).
A very Merry Christmas to you too sarumite...It doesn't matter does it ? Not with the amount of whisky I keep imbibing ..but ..it's all good fun !
All the best to you and may all your clues be easy ones in the New Year ...Cheers
Shaney xx
What about "holies" for 34a?
Question Author
Wightman, now you're really adding to the confusion !
I think HALOED is slightly better, as there is one clear wiseman with a halo in the picture, but they will probably accept either answer I guess.

How about 10d, picture B? That looks like mistletoe to me but the answer which fits is HOLLY. I think someone's printed the wrong picture there.
Question Author
Hi porilo, yes I noticed picture B earlier and raised it on following posting ....
