I live in a flat with my 5 year old african grey & an indoor Siamese cat. As a result of some looked over banana, we now have fruit flies & I'm not sure how to get rid of them. I spent yester day afternoon bleaching the kitchen & spring cleaning the cage, but can't really spray insecticides.

you really can't do anything apart from remove all fruit for 24hrs the flies will just die. i used to have this prob all the time with my parrot
Just get rif of the old fruit and the fruit flyes will disappear in no time, try to keep fresh fruit in future to avoid this problem!!! Also while the fruit flyes are dying off dont leave any can, bottles etc open as they get every where. I discovered this to my cost with a bottle of wine!!!!!
Wine is actually the best way to catch them.
Put out a couple of glasses of red wine around where they have been flying. Come back tomorrow and there will be loads of them floating dead in the wine. Gets them every time!
