Having had debt problems in the past I couldn't get a credit card until Capital One let me have one. I know their interest rate is high because of this, but wonder if there are any other cards that would accept me that are lower interest or preferably no interest on balance transfer?

Manage this card well for 6 months and you will have many more options.

Don't apply for any just yet - you don't want a trail of refusals on your record.
Of course you could try asnd live WITHOUT a credit card.

Then you may not have so many debt problems.

Credit cards are not compulsary.
please please please do yourself one favour - keep up the payments to Capital One - they are the most unsympathetic company I've ever had the misfortune to come across - literally harassing me over 49 at one stage (3 to 4 phone calls daily). Personally I'd stay well clear of them in future, but you could use them to improve your credit rating for a few months, and then apply for a card with a better company.
