Cat in my house
I need help/advice. I came home from work yesterday evening to find a male cat upstairs in my bedroom fighting with my cat. This same cat has been stalking my 7 month old female for a couple of months, my kitten has been spayed and I was hoping this would stop male cat from prowling around her. They have got into scuffles before but this has always been outside. My kitten is ok but she has a nicked ear, lost her collar and had wee'd herself.
I have glass doors so have not installed a cat flap, instead I leave my downstairs window open so kitten can climb in and out. Even if I had a cat flap I don't think this would make any difference as he has no qualms about following her into her own territory. I have left the window closed today to keep kitten inside.
Any suggestions how I can keep male cat out my house while letting kitten roam?

You can get cat flaps that fit in glass doors - but he will probably wait for her anyway. If he is an un neutered tom I would try to catch him and take him to a local animal shelter. If the owners cared about him he would be neutered anyway. He will also pee everywhere if he is entire.
If you can find out who he belongs to then have a word with them and tell them you are going to shoot him if he comes round again (you don't have to mean it, but it might make them do something).

The design of my windows means that I can't fix them at a certain width. Male cat can use his weight to force the window open wider (trust the MOD to supply housing with F all security measures!)
He does spray in my garden, mainly against my BBQ. I have never noticed my little female marking her territory at all. She hasn't even realised that she can go to the toilet outside yet, and runs back in to use tray!
I know about cat flaps with magnets but male cat has a magnet on his collar so would be able to gain entry anyway.

you really have to do something that will share the s**t out of him so that your cat can live in peace.
It is difficult as he is not beeing bad, he is just being a cat.
Try waiting for him to come in and hit him with water from your garden hose.
All the usual things that would keep a cat away might frighten your little princess though. You say he is a stalker maybe get the MOD to put an ASBO on him!

We are at the moment having just the same problem as you.
We have been it touch with cat organizations here and they will provide a cat trap. You can then give the cat to them and they will re-home it, we are getting the cat trap in a couple of days.
Try your local cat protection society or vet for advice.
The cat we are having problems with is a semi feral one and it comes through our cat flap and makes itself at home when we are out, our cat is frightened of it.

i have to admit it but (we have cats and we have had other cats come into the house before) the only way IS to scare them, throw jugs of water on them, shout, scream, throw stones (small ones) at them. they stop coming eventually. but be careful when she gets to around a year if you haven't had her done....there will be a herd of tomcats in your garden and house! no point talking to the owner. owners have no idea where their cat goes and what will the owner do? have a word with the cat and tell them they're grounded? some cats are wilder than others and need to be out. just protect your territory!
