This will probably be so simple for some of you that I feel ashamed asking but, my nephew has just bought a computer and some of the keys on the keyboard don't type what they should do, e.g. when he needs the sign he gets a # sign. He types other keys along the top (not F keys) and they don't do it either. It's only with these number keys along the top. Is there a setting that needs changing? Thanks.

It seems your region settings are incorrect. Try going to Start>Control Panel>Regional Settings. Just make sure all the drop down menu's are set to UK.
..Or right click on your task bar down the bottom, click toolbars>language bar. Assuming your running XP, a few icons will appear near the sytem trap. Click EN and make sure its set to the UK.
