While most Video Recorders will play NTSC tapes , I am not sure what the situation is for DVD-R. I want to purchase a DVDR of a US Program froma US site who specify the DVDR cannot be recorded in PAL format.

If i am playing it back on a pc does it matter if its NTSC or PAL?

Most PC's will play NTSC without difficulty, they should automatically detect the format, some will simply ask you to confirm that it is region 1 (USA) and when you say OK - off it goes . In fact most DVD players will play NTSC too despite any indication to the contrary. Even if your DVD player is set to reigon 2 (Europe, Japan, etc.) it can be made to become reigon-free (i.e. play any legitimate DVD), instructions on how to do this (it's very simple you use your remote to type in a code), may be found in your operating instructions book, but if not then there are plenty of web sites out there, just use google to search for "region free DVD". Hope this helps.
