As many male Abers will have their eyes fixed on the feast of football on TV just now, I thought the ladies might have a little fun (Abbeylee style) ....  imagine you are meeting a man from a chat-line for the first time, what would you check out first about him?  Don't be shy 😉        For me ... eyes, hands, bum and he must be able to make me laugh. 🤣

His looks, his clothes and his manners... the first two because I'm shallow.  😀

He must have clean fingernails, preferably no heard & a cracking sense of humour!

^^beard^^

His eyes...do they twinkle?  Then the rest of him...how he's dressed is also a consideration.

I'll have the beard...thank you 😉😘

Eyes then teeth and hopefully no facial hair. This is my judgemental first things to check list BUTin the end it's meaningless. One of the few of my exes who used to make my knees wobble I was so in love I thought was veritably ugly the first time I met him.

It wouldn't suit you pasta.  😂

My husband grew a beard.  When his mother saw it she said, 'Hmmph!  I don't like beards!'  My husband said 'Just as well you've not got one then'

🤣

Moustaches are a turn-off for me, beards OK if he suits one.
I thought Abbey might look in to give us her well-documented comments. 😊

Does he look like his photo.... Then is he well groomed, after that is he able to maintain enough eye contact..... I would already have checked out what I could online. Intelligent conversation is also a must.

Manners, appearance intelligence and ability to communicate.. Thankfully hypothetical for me but some of my friends 'finds' on line are dire especially once they get to over 50

Been looking on a few dating sites and tbh the choice isn't great  for over 60s, mostly they are looking for carers for either themselves, elderly relatives, or disabled children,   or have really poor self presentation.  Or  are looking for someone  with money.  Have been asked directly 'I see you are a widow, did your husband leave you much?'

^^ so no handsome toy-boys looking for experienced ladies???

Plenty of young ones but none I would trust to be genuine

I recently posted on here that my son had just put his profile on a new dating app he had found, got up and made a drink then sat down again and someone had already answered.  To his astonishment her profile was almost the same as his.  Both served in the forces at the same time in Belfast and Germany and each have a daughter with the same name.  Bang.  So in love with each other, met all of each others families, even the dogs get on. They sent me some photos today from their holiday abroad. I am so pleased for them.  They never dreamt this would happen at 62 and 59 years old. Oh and they both own equally beautiful houses in different counties but not too far apart.

That's a lovely story, Ladybirder - meant to be x

Definitely check that there is no beard. Then check that he had a sense of humour.
Ideally he won't be recently widowed or separated as I'm no counsellor!

Mildly nice looking, not TOO fat, but I don't mind a bit of meat on a man. Must not be thick or grimy-looking. And not one of those Love Island types who look like they spend their lives in the gym and tanning salon.

Hi girls.

I tick all your boxes.

Where do I apply?

That's a no then.
