For those who may not be aware. Piers Morgan bet the PM a grand that a deportation flight will never take off to Rwanda.

To Rishi a grand is peanuts. I liked his parting shot to Piers Morgan. ," Do you have an altrnative plan to Rwanda?"

"Eh..... No but I'm not Prime Minister."

Put your hand in your pocket Piers and put up or shut up.

It was a voluntary flight and the person involved received £3,000 for his troubles.

It wasn't part of the new deportation scheme so I think Morgan's money is safe.

"A video released by the Home Office showed officers entering homes and bringing out people detained in handcuffs, before putting them in the back of secure vans."

Since the first flights are not planned for quite some time (July is the best estimate I have seen) this is going to get interesting.

If the above is true, it seems people have been arrested, and presumably they will remain in custody until being taken to the airport (if not, why arrest them, unless perhaps for show in advance of this week's elections?). I wonder under what legislation they are to be held for two or three months?

yes judge the grand is safe for now but the mere fact they are rounding them up means they are ging through the process. No doubt the trobiscites are planning gawd knows what but I think the PM is determined to get this going. Maybe we'll get more voluntary ones as they conclude they are going anyway so might as well have £3k.

I'm glad you clarified what that heading meant, it might have well been in Klingon for all the sense it made.

...is my superpower having an effect?😁

Though TTT was building sandcastles on the beach at Blackpool when I spotted this post.

What? You think this thread's title would've made sense had you not clarified it in the first post? Unless your superpower is talking carp, I think you're off the mark a bit these.

Anyhoo, it seems a bit early to be playing Rawhide and rounding them up, but what do I know? Maybe the first flight will be a tad before the expected date?

Gawd I hope so mozz, shut the nay sayers up anyway.

more keep arriving daily from france = more processing more lawyers courts etc, the system is overwhelmed, thye really have to stop rescuing them, towing them back more like, if they sink they sink...let the french rescue them.

Now these immigrants know that The stupid Tories will pay them 3 grand a piece just to step on then off British soil they will be coming over in their thousands on cruise liners.

The bleedin RNLI get on my nerves, they go out and bring them back. Last time I support that shower.

Question Author

We should treat it like what it is, a hostile invasion, stop them entering British waters full stop.

The RNLI's job is to rescue those at risk in British waters. Colour/creed/country of origin is irrelevant. It's not their job to send them back, that's the job of the British legal types. All the lifeboatmen are doing is saving lives.

Question Author

Actual rescue, fair enough but they also go out and meet the boats and bring them back. Seen it on the News countless times, the boats aren't sinking.

They're not safe either. If they were, there wouldn't be so many killed while crossing.

It's not a hostile invasion, they're visiting the Hub of the Britsh Empire which encompassed their forebears in its membership.
