I'm particularly interested in single oldies...but anyone can answer. Pet food can be included...but not other household bits.

I've always been a shop-as-needed type...probably spending more than I should. But it kept me out and about. I strained my back at Christmas...that and awful weather led me to return to online shopping for groceries.

I've so far only done every 2 weeks...but that doesn't quite keep me going. Particularly with fresh, short dated stuff.

I'm a single oldie and my Tesco shop the other day came to just over £100. The only non-food was a bottle of Milton and the £2 delivery charge.

Quite a bit of my shopping are the offers like 3 for 2, so I saved just over £9 on the offers otherwise it would have been just over £109.

Some of the things I bought will last me more than a few weeks and some of the things I bought for the first time to see if I like them.

The most expensive item was frozen wild salmon which was just over £5 and something I hadn't bought before was Benecol buttery which I think was £4.50. Won't buy this again unless it's on special offer.

Two oldies, £150 a week. No booze or cleaning items usually.

Oh, I should have mentioned no alcohol.

D.small must be eating caviar 😉

Baz, Baz, Baz I keep meaning to..... I am gonna put it on my list next time I go to Asda. I go to Asda about once a month.

Oh Shaz , I'm near the point of giving up on ya :-)

Well the proper smiley didn't work there

How does one do them ?

Two oldies, average £50-£60 per week.

Baz..theres a smiley emoji in the answer box...or use the one on your keyboard  😀

I'm a single oldie, I tend to shop several times a week - due to my eating habits.

I shop at Iceland - Sainsbury's - Poundland - Asda mainly due to the range variety in the shops.

Asda is a trip on a bus but the others are walking distance. My budget is really flexible but is governed by my eating.

Iceland £11.25 - £2.25 offer paid £9.00

Ham 3 packs

Fruit loaf

White chocolate cookies

They do oap 10% discount on Tues (if I remember to go!)

Asda is the weekend shop of things only they stock £9.45

2 x Pasty

Lucozade Sport

2 L Tango

2 x Cereal Bars only stocked there

Poundland  £6.25

Best value for treats

Mainly Wagon Wheels & chocolate bars

Sainsbury's  £7.25

Meal deal on Saturday's

2l Bottles of soft drink

1l bottle of Lucozade

Bottled water as required a special trip once a month.

I budget for £200 for food which includes food that is bought on trips.

Food management has improved this year as I had stocks of stuff that would never get used so I took it back and donated it to the food bank.

One thing I've realised is there's huge variation in what we all spend. From £20 on up to £75 per person per week.

I think there's government stats that say £35 or so per older adult. But of course, it depends on diet, and food preferences.

Right now, I want to do a weekly online shop for about a month, then compare it to my usual 'list in hand wander' in the shops. Both have drawbacks regarding spending. Online, I see all the goodies that my medium sized city centre store doesn't stock...such as a better selection of meat and fish.  In-store, it's the impulse buys.

This should be interesting.

kwillmott...is that £200 for the month?

Your diet is interesting...do you cook for yourself at all?

Baz, 🎵 Don't give up on us, baby 🎶

It is on the list & 2 weeks time is my next trip to Asda.

2 oldies , one dog, 3 cats

Morrisons click and collect between every 12/14 days in the region of £100.  Not many non food items, cleaner uses all her own stuff.    A  more expensive shop every couple of  months of to include loo rolls, and detergents, toothpaste, ect

Smaller shops at Lidls,  Morrisons and our small tescos couple of times a week  so probably about £170/180.00 ish over a two week period including some animal food

Animal  warehouse.  Too much!!

Alcohol.  Occasionally a box of Carlsberg and half a of brandy for  cooking purposes.  Nothing regularly.

But we don't do any takeaways or  deliveries of pizza etc and rarely eat out.

We're still worth one more try , Shaz :-)

I'm on my phone and I've only got the 'b' and  'i' in the answer box

Lottie...I don't think I've ever bought a takeaway. I'm much too wary of what might be in them. I've not had any wine in almost 2 months...I do miss it, so may resume having a tipple. I eat out when my daughter is paying...and lunch several times a year when I meet up with friends.

If I had a bit more storage, I'd stock up on loo/kitchen rolls and cat food. Note to self...clean out the deep larder cupboard in kitchen, and hall closet outside bathroom. No I've got incentive!

I haven't been in a shop for over a year now.  I just do the ordering and sort our finances.I have hated shopping for years though.

Pastafreak

Yes £50 a week.

I used to do hot evening meals when I was working but during the Pandemic I resorted to ready meals. I have gone off hot food, prefer cold food. I have cut out several things due to heath concerns. Salt sugar caffeine and have moderated things like crisps and other snack food.
