Hi All,

I have suffered from bouts of insomnia for the last year or so, I can't predict when I'm about to have one and they generally last from a couple of days to a month. Usually this means that I don't sleep before 2am no matter what I do and consequently I'm shattered the next day. I won't take a nap but usually go to bed early when it happens to catch up but even tho I'm exhausted I still can't sleep and end up getting up and doing something to stop myself getting stressed.

Does anyone else suffer from this? What do you do about it? Does the herbal stuff work?

Cheers

Hi China Doll! Hope you are not too sleepy to read this! I was watching new BBC One Show and they are running an excercise in sleep patterns on the show. Apparently we all do not need as much sleep as we try to get and our deep sleep, which is only for about 3 to 4 hours a night is all we really need to completely refresh us. What they are trying in the test, is for someone to take cat naps of just half an hour at different times through the day and night, up to 5 or 6 a day I believe, which will give them the required hours needed. They are testing this because some people do this successfully all the time, espcially if their jobs i.e. firemen etc, depend on broken sleep patterns. It will be interesting to see how the tester gets on in this experiment. If nothing else, I hope this has reassured you that only getting 3 to 4 hours a night, is not as bad as you may have thought!

Might try that little experiment out for myself... better explain it to manager first before they catch me cat napping at the computer!

Cheers for that xx

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixeddaily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can becured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
