I have travelled around the world and found this is the case by a long long way.

The weather, the people, the lack of poverty, the modern buildings, the clean streets all contributed to it trully being a great place to be.

That is very well put pugwash and totally accurate. People from overseas call Australians racist but they couldnt be more wrong. Australia gives everyone a fair go none more so than the Aboriginies. Look at the Cronulla riots in December. Sure it was directed at some of the Lebonese people. But this was because some of their young men were causing trouble such as hanging around in packs & standing on the beach and calling Australian girls in bikinis '*****' etc. If they want to live in Australia, that's fine. They can even practice their religion, no worries. BUT when they try & impose their Muslim or whatever values on the people who have let them come & live here, there is going to be trouble. The simple answer is that Australians will not tolerate that kind of behaviour and why should they...If they want to come & live here, they must adapt or get the bloddy hell out. Australia was built by immigrants. We revel in our Italian, Irish, Chinese etc heritage. We are not racist!
FelixtheDog, not wanting to change the subject, BUT, are you related to NormantheDog on AnswerBank ?

this suggests otherwise. Not all Australians are racist; but many are, and loud with it. And blaming it all on Abos! Lebos! and anyone who fails to fit in isn't good enough.

That is total cr ap jno & I dont need any web link to tell me otherwise.

are you saying that the report in the weblink is untrue, or what?

I adored Australia, except the Outback and would love to live there, preferably, Melbourne. Unfortunately, my daughters and I have titian coloured hair, pale skin and freckles and it would be unfair to subject them to such a climate while they are so young and prone to dashing around with as little clothing on as possible.

Every country has social problems of one sort or another and Australia is no different in that resepect, but at least the government and most of the people recognise the difficulties and are making practical attempts to resolve them. I don't think you can ask for more than that. Fair dinkum!!

If you want to know more information about what Australia has to offer I suggest that you visit a web site called pomsdownunder.com
This will give you some more insight into Aussie
