I'm told 23 kgs. My case is 69x47x26cms is this too large ?

Different airlines have different limits and there can be other variations depending on the type of seat or extras you've paid for.

All the information will be on the airlines website
The measurements mean nothing if your weight allowance is 23 kgs
Your bag should not weigh more than that
tamaris, are you going on holiday or moving house? If you are going on holiday have you considered taking a 10kg bag as cabin luggage - it is far more convenient.

That’s a fairly small case. Unless you’re taking some gold bars or bricks, you’d struggle to get 23kg in it.

British Airways has size limits on its checked in luggage:
Standard checked baggage
Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm (35 x 30 x 17in)
Up to 23kg (51lb) in Economy and Premium Economy
Up to 32kg (70lb) in First and Business
