Europe has just had a wake up call regarding energy supply. Most countries across Europe have suffered huge price rises and restructuring over the last year or so following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We are all trying to remove our reliance on Russian fossil fuels by changing supplies or optimising our own. So what is Labour promising? Yep you guessed it, shut down the North sea! So Labour's policy will make the Russian invasion rises look like a picnic! Genius!

Net Zero needs to be dropped, it is unachievable nonsense that will clobber the hard working poorer section of our society disproportionally.

It's further exploration they are suggesting stopping, so presumably existing sources continue. It should give time to put replacement energy sources in place first, but it would need careful managing. Like the foolish decision government made years ago to not build further nuclear plants, you can't suddenly put some up overnight when you realise your folly.
