the bbc , cnn , various media companies film news reports in oppressive censored regimes china , n korea etc, today the bbc had a feature on the high number of questionable executions in china(there was no claim that it was secretly filmed) , now , given the secracy and sensitivity of these countries to negative press do the bbc /cnn etc have to show the chinese authorities the film for prior approval? (i also assume they require a filming permit would the bbc tell them it was for such a negative report ?)

I would suggest that at least some of this sort of stuff is provided by the counties themselves (their country's News, so to speak) and not necessarily filmed by the BBC, CNN or whatever. Some regimes aren't necessarily reticent about what they do; maybe they see it as good for its deterrent effect on the locals.

Other stuff may be filmed by locals with a video camera, then sold.
