While things aren't looking good at present, the depth ought not be a certain showstopper. If the hull holds out you don't need another manned sub to make a rescue. A carmera sub and the ability to maniplute equipment should suffice.

despite my opinions about this voyage (that it is foolish and rather grotesque) i completely agree with the search and rescue… i don’t think death is the right penalty for being foolish!
