Why Me ...

The other day, on Wednesday 8 March 2023, it was confirmed that I have Cancer.

Numerous X-rays and CT scans trying to find the source of the horrific pain I was in, found a shadow mass covering the left lung and impacting into the spinal column, doing damage to it on the way.

Several weeks of changing medications and GPs, found the ‘hidden monster’ within!

I have one PET scan and then a meeting with the various ologies, who will offer me Chemo or Radio therapy, at least, I think.

I am still in screaming pain, but the Palliative Pain people are now on my case.

Throughout this “discovery”, I wonder how many other ABers went through similar periods of confusion, hallucination, weakness, sanitary problems and a whole lot more, owing to constant changes in their medication, in an effort to find a manageable solution and how you managed to carry on.

And finally, for those who know, which is worse, Chemo or Radio therapy – and would it do me any good in doing my own “research”?

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis woodelf. Having had those three words [you have cancer] said to me I know how absolutely petrifying it is and though I have little to offer in the way of advice, I will say please listen to your medical team.
Cancer is such an individual beast and what works for one may well make little difference to the next..
Try to stay calm, eat little and often as you must keep your strength up and finally, be kind to yourself!
You are in my thoughts and I send you so much love and healing

Very sorry to read this woodelf. I hope you will soon get the pain relief that you need...and also the necessary treatment. Best wishes to you.
There's not a lot I can say to what has already been said ... I think we all fear the big "C" at some time in our lives. My thoughts are with you.x

Where to start?...well, first off is to Thank You All for all your good words, best wishes and kishes...smile!...and to wipe away the tears.
Thank You So Much O-G and You Too Ken, two unlooked for names I like to see.
If I wasn't so spaced out now with morphine, I'd appreciate your cyber hug even more, Wolf, but it's just like a dream it's there.
Redhelen, naomi, Sharon all giving the time to write, within your own battles and Choux, I accept all you offer and my lovely partner, as you say, will do so too, 'cause I haven't known a better and can't imagine what she's been going through, looking after this lumbering idiot!
Arky, if I may, I think you are A Red (same here) and THAT result did nowt to alieviate this blasted pain!
Very Many Thanks Indeed Sunny-Dave - but do you keep Gness in brackets all the time!...smile - two very special people.
Hey up lad, how ya doin' LIK, it really does some great fundamental good to the soul to know that such a mate is there!
And now of course, there is Chris...cos I'm going to be scared out of my boots, but when he uses words like "doddle", it gives me hope in this dark world. So I will take his notes into theatre or wherever the geniuses operate, not so much a checklist, morof a self-morale booster!
This all doesn't seem to make sense I suppose, but I'll put it down to the stuff I'm being flooded with.
I know I have forgotten to mention Chanel5, Barry, Rowanwitch, but I hope I will be forgiven and can only express My Deepest Thanks.
I've taken the brackets off to give you a hug and X, Woodelf.

We're both very fond of you and will be thinking of you.
Love Gness.

Thank You So Very Much Gness, it means So Very Much to me - and may long be your freedom!...and if you're on a night night music, please could you play Metropolitan Avenue by Christy Moor!
Lots of luck with your treatment woodelf and like everyone else on here, I am wishing you well and sending loving thoughts. Lean on family, friends anyone you can who will help xx
I will indeed, Woodelf. Probably from Christy live at Vicar Street. A place I love. Kiss.
Woodelf, Yes you may and yes a United Red. Yesterday not as bad as last week but wouldn't have helped either.
I just popped in to offer my continued support, all the best to you.
