At the momen i have venition blinds which im bored with and am getting fed up of cleaning them so often, they are dust magnets.

Im struggling to think of an alternative. Dont like nets so was thinking maybe vertical blinds this time, does anyone think they are too 'officey'?

They do come in some nice fabrics but my window is too far back off the road to see this so to passers by they would just look like standard office blinds.

Any suggestions?

I’ve gone round in circles, darcy. We have vertical blinds both ends of the living room and I’d love to find a satisfactory alternative.
We have venition blinds in three bedrooms and the study. I agree, they’re dust gatherers.
I’ve looked at shutters but they also seem to be dust gatherers. If you find a solution I’d be very glad to see it!
Do you really need anything if you are set back from the road? Just regular curtains?

Eitherway, chose something you'd like to live with and be less concerned about how things look to the passers by.
Would you have them down all the time? blindstogo have a massive selection including some light voiles. We have ordered 2 sets of Roman blinds (the type that are kind of folded up in wide horizontal pleats) which we love but only pull them down when the sun shines in.
I don't know that one sort of blind is going to attract less dust than another sort - and if they don't it'll just land somewhere else.
One way film applied to the window - can see out but not in ??
agree with woodchopper. One of our neighbours have it and its very effective.
Have a look at Zebra blinds, Darcey, Very versatile.
Yes, those Zebra blinds are good value.
You get 2 Belisha beacons with every purchase.
And one Pelican if you're lucky, Barsel. ;-)

Thanks everyone, some really good options there.
I don't think vertical blinds look at all officey.
I loved the vertical blinds in my last house, Canary. Couldn’t have them here but I’m more than happy with the Zebras.
Were you one of the lucky ones that got the Pelican too Gness?

Of course, Barsel. Very fond of Pelicans. :-)
Surprised nobody has mentioned that they are actually venetian blinds as in Venice!
I often wondered why the people who are from Venice are named after blinds.
Don’t think anyone was bothered, Lankeela. East to hit a wrong button.
you can get one-way film but I don't think the product linked to by TheWinner does that - you can't see out through it, it's frosted both ways.
