I'm not sure if 'Shopping' is the right place for this thread. I guess I'm looking to purchase a pill splitter, so maybe it is in the right place.

I have a pill splitter that isn't very good, it often breaks the pills unevenly. It's supposed to break them right down the middle.

Does anyone know of a decent pill splitter that actually cuts pills in half? The tablets are round but aren't completely flat - maybe that is why it never splits them properly. He's a picture of the tablets (to give you an idea of what I mean by the shape) - https://i.lowrex.com/i/Be2Ij.jpg

There are so many pill splitters online and so many reviews. If anyone knows of one that will do the job I need it to do, I'd appreciate your suggestions.

I purchased this in 2018. It is still in use and has been used for both myself and my cat. The crusher is very useful. There are a lot to choose from but this one has worked well for me. https://amzn.eu/d/dy9m4L4

furrypusscat, that might just work, because it has a stopper in both directions, unless the one I have that just has a front stop - nothing stops the tablet from moving backwards as it is split and cutting unevenly. Thanks, I'll look at buying that one.

It is fine to split them. I've had that specific debate with a few people, including 3 different doctors, and they've all said the same thing, that it's fine. The one thing that can happen is that they break down quicker in the body, however this does not happen very often. My OH has to sometimes break her tablets in half as they sometimes survive the digestive process and are found in her stool - breaking the tablets in half ensures that this doesn't happen.

Thank you to everyone else for their suggestions, I think I'm going to buy the one furrypusscat suggested. :)
This is the information from the NHS,

"Do not break, crush, chew or suck oxycodone slow-release tablets. If you do, the slow-release system will not work and the whole dose might get into your body in one go. This could cause an overdose."

Yeah, I mentioned that (the NHS guidance) too and they didn't seem too bothered. It was at our doctor's suggestion to break the tablets in half, for my OH at least.

My OH has been breaking her Oxycodone tablets for years and has never had any problems. Thanks for showing concern though TCL :)
