Sometimes there are moments when I feel very afraid because I will die and I will not be able to celebrate, see people, laugh and have fun with friends.

I do not fear death. I just don't want to be there when it happens :-)
I embrace it. It’s the beginning of a wonderful new adventure.
I'm only afraid of a slow, painful, wasting death. Being dead doesn't bother me at all
My wish is that I die before my OH - I can’t imagine not being here without him
Being here - grrrr
lol Toorak, I did worse than that today. I called Ed SpareEd ;)
:-))
I know how you feel Toorak. I feel the same.
Timor mortis conturbat me

Will it give me six months warning
Or come when least expected?
Will I trip over it one morning
And find myself disconnected?

Will it come on the way to Corstorphine
Or when sitting on the loo?
Will I need a lot of morphine
Will a bottle of brandy do?

Will it happen in broad daylight?
Or wait until it’s dark?
Will it come like a lover at midnight
On a necromancing lark?

Will I lose control of my bladder?
Will I lose control of myself?
Will the Lord send down a ladder
And shock the National Health?

Will it start as a minor chill,
Then turn to a nasty cough?
Will it spread everywhere until
Someone has to switch me off?

Is it already growing inside me?
Does it have a date and a time?
Will I know when at last it’s untied me?
O what’s the use of rhyme?

’The fear of death disturbs me’, a phrase from the Catholic Office
of the Dead, was used notably by William Dunbar, the medieval Scottish poet, in his ‘Lament for the Makars’.

I'm not afraid of dying, I am very grateful my other half went first. He relied on me for everything towards the end of his life. I watched the process of his slow death over many months. I was with him when he was told his life was nearing its end. I had kept it from him for many months. It amazed me he took it so calmly. He said he wasn't afraid.

As long as I don't have to go into care ill not worry about it just yet.
Hi. TOB, how are you coping without your OH ?
Hi Anna, I'm doing ok, I think. I have some depressing days, particularly weekends I find hard.
It's the loneliness I am troubled with.
Thank you for asking.
What makes you think that you will not be able to celebrate, see people, laugh and have fun with friends ? You will likely know many who went before you.
It is impossible to imagine having no contiousness and no awareness, not even a dream.
I am not afraid of death itself, and at the age of 71, the inevitability is fast approaching. I do feel sadness though that there is so much in my world to enjoy, and new things to discover plus the grandchildren growing up, that I really want to experience but also It cannot be.
71, good lord! you could be around for another quarter of a century.
Khandro, I’m seventy one and feel it. My father died at fifty four, sister at fifty five, mother at sixty six. On the conveyor of life, I am on the downward stretch.
