I Had A Good Reception For Freeview

On my lounge TV. The 2nd TV I have was a bad reception i tuned several times and it was no better. I tried retuning with the SECAM button which I have never used and now its OK.
Can anyone explain this in layman's language please ?

Not really. SECAM is an analogue TV system (UK used PAL). Are you not in the UK ?

Yes I'm in the SE
SECAM has never been used in the UK and certainly shouldn't work with digital television as it is an analogue format.
I suspect the button does something else
What make and model is it?
Perhps you tuned into a French channel. Seems strange to me.
France is digital these days

I've had ppl out to look and mend the cables recently . It's an LG.
Is the SECAM button on the remote? Have you got the manual?
I'm puzzled by this. How old is the TV and where did you buy it from?
I've never seen a "SECAM" button on anything in the UK.
Perhaps it was just coincidental.

Secam was an option on the tuning on tv. It's gone back to no reception on some channels again. It was a fluke yes
If it's a fairly new smart TV you don't need 'reception' as you can tune via the internet

Have you checked that the aerial is firmly connected? Take it out and push it back in.
Go outside and look at your aerial. Has it shifted?
Click the source button on the remote. Is it on 'digital'?

If you have a recording device connected is that getting all the channels?

I have a communal ariel, there was a fault in the box that was rectified a couple of months ago. It's strange that all is well on the main TV but not on the 2nd TV in another room. It's on a splitter ariel connection.
I misunderstood your original question, I thought your previous, first TV, was fine but your new TV had problems
