Do dogs get cold on their walks in this weather? We've always had Japanese Akita's and they really don't feel the cold, so we've never worried. But, now we have Rodney, a Bullmastiff who's coat is not very thick. Do you think he'd benefit from a coat. He doesn't seem perturbed on his walks, and charges out of the door in excitement, but I'd hate to think he was cold.

Do what Jess and I do!!
Smile lovingly at him from the window whilst wrapped up really well with a towel warming on the radiator for him!!
Hi folks, Mylo here again. Ken's in the kitchen making himself a brew and you know i sometimes like to nip on here when he's not looking.

Right, we dogs do not mind going walkies when the temperature's a tad low, and we absolutely love frolicking around in the snow, but what we don't particularly like (i actually detest it with a vengeance) is when the fool on the other end of the lead stops to natter with a friend or neighbour. That's when our pads tend to get a little cold.

So if your 'best friend' starts to show a little impatience next time you do this - i whine a bit and pull on the lead - react to his/her protestations. Please.

Uh oh, can hear Ken coming back from the kitchen. Remember, not a word to him about me using the laptop. Cheers :-)
Well said Ken, sorry Mylo!
Tora wears her raincoat when it rains, and she loves her jersey, she goes to the draw where they are kept and asks ( little bark) in the evening. We have bought boots from Ali Express , they take a couple of weeks to arrive but are half the price. Those ones that Tigger recommended won't last you long. We have had those, now she has the ones that have rubber soles, more like booties and close with velcro. Tora neve has had a problem with coats, jerseys or boots. She thinks she is human anyway.
Hi Mylo! I wish more of you lovely doggies would have a sneaky word with your owners about overdressing fit healthy dogs. Of course, our older friends might need a coat as they may have difficulty moving about enough to keep warm, but cold and dry conditions are fine for most of our furry friends.
