I have just received a letter telling me that I owe a parking charge. This was for parking in a car park using my Blue Badge. I have used before my Blue Badge in this car park before but am now threatened with a £100 fine by Civil Enforcement. How can I fight this? Does anyone know? Advice please.

There is no legal requirement to provide x amount of disabled parking spaces in a public car park under the Equality Act 2010. Thank you Dave and Barry.

I am so relieved. Despite what another thread on here is saying as a pensioner I am not well off or have money (£100) to fritter. This is such a relief.

//I have now heard from the owners of the car and they reiterate that I should have paid for parking however in this instance they have waived the fine but reminded me that I must make sure I pay in future. This of course I will ensure I do.//
Good result......but...do they now expect all blue badge holders to pay or is it free for blue badgers but only if your in a disabled bay
In my view it is bonkers chafging blue badge holders to park in car parks, especially council owned car parks. It just encourages them to legally park on double yellow lines for three hours. Those lines are there to help with the free flow of traffic and having cars parked on them defeats that objective

Parking on double yeelow lines on the street near the car park I used would mean only another care would get through and certainly not an emergency vehicle.

bob : only able to use Blue Badge in disabled bay. All other parking to be paid for. When I go to the library I make sure i only go after 4pm as in the winter minths parking is free after that time. Have to pay in summer. Library rather part-time as only open 3 1/2 days per week and always closes at 5pm..
