I'm changing cars next week; part exchanging mine for the new one on a pre-arranged day.

Do I arrange the insurance switch in advance or wait until I have the car? I'm probably insured to drive my current car and any other car that I don't own; but I will own it.

Never mind, Maydup.
Do you know what time you will be picking up your new car ?.
Tell your insurance company to change your insurance over at that time.

That's what I was planning on doing Tony but wondered if it was a bit risky. What if for any reason things don't go to plan?
Don't worry, Maydup. Just turn up with your car at the time that you have arranged.
I arranged a time to pick up my car and informed my insurance company. I then made sure that I allowed plenty of time to go and pick it up so that my insurance was still valid on the car that I was part exchanging.
It's a while now since I did that but I informed the insurance company well in advance and they gave me free cover on both cars for a week.
