When is the best time to start making the Christmas cake?

My mother believes in starting early so she would say now so that you can feed it plenty of booze.

I normally make mine the last week in October, (half term week).

Give it about 3 months so you can feed it with a mixture of Rum and Brandy. So just about now would be right. I don't always make a Christmas cake but I think I might just make one now that I've been reminded.

i made mine last weekend. so long as you can give it at least 6-8 weeks of feeding

II always make ours on our wedding anniversary....17th November.....and never had a failure yet!!
