4d Historical bunch of ivy as a tavern's or vintner's sign; the wilds; or a shrubby clump in which to lay wait in a surprise attack, for example. (4) ?U?H

I couldn't find a suitable word so looked the clue up on on-line answerbanks. Was a bit surprised to be given a 3 letter word which I couldn't in the dictionary. The word was USH. Can anyone help?

Is it not bush ? (Triple definition)
Bush - Chambers has "...a bunch of ivy hung up as a tavern sign..."
