After reading the horrible article of the baby girl being killed by 2 rottweilers at the weekend I'd like to ask do you think these attacks that are happening more frequently now, are the fault of the owners or the dogs?

yep thats right WW. The grandfathers partner has died from stab wounds. It happened hours after the baby died.
Flipping 'eck...what the hell's going on???

There's more to this story than meets the eye.

the police are saying its unrelated but i'm not so sure. weird world we live in.
I've often wondered what the point of dogs are as pets. Other than those dogs that serve some specific purpose such as guide dogs and sniffer dogs, I don't understand why anyone would want one. If you want some companionship, get a cat or, even better, a goldfish. It's just my opinion, but I've always been of the belief that dogs are a lot more trouble than they're worth. Most dog owners don't seem to realise that these are potentially fatal animals. My sister was attacked when we were younger by a 'really friendly dog, who would never bite anyone'- clearly their idea of friendly was different from most people's. If you ask me, all dogs are dangerous and should only be handled by trained dog handlers.
I must admit that I didn't read all of the previous posts about this subject.

I have had two dogs - one was a big (very big) soft lump who would have cuddled you to death the other, a rescue dog, "wore his muzzle with pride". I wouldn't have trusted either of them with a person without big dog experience.

That said small dogs frighten me. And the only animal related injury that I have ever sustained was when my cat bit me, it became infected and was pretty nasty.

We are never all going to agree on this subject. But if people want to have dogs (brilliant animals) then they should learn how a dog thinks and prevent anything like this happening.

It is very easy for us all to be horrified or wise after the event!
I might get blasted for this...but as anyone who's seen the film 'Cats and Dogs' will attest...cats are evil and dogs are (mostly) kind and loving.

Cats are only ever after one thing...food - and they don't care where they get it from.

You think you own a cat? Think again...they have no loyalty. The minute you're backs turned, they're off down your neighbour's house, whining for a bowl of cream and a roll in the kitty litter.

Dogs are man's best friend.

Cats are the ****** of the animal world.

There...I've said it.
I hope i dont offend any dog lovers here but I never have or ever will trust dogs...... i hate it when people say " he wont bite you"!!!!! (Deep down, you dont know that)even the placid dog could become violent... i understand that people have pets ... for whatever reason,,, but personally , i dont like dogs or cats... so i think its the dogs fault...

"I for one minute do not think that she would ever do that [bite someone] - and no I can't say that with a 100% certainty, just as I can't say with a 100% certainty that my wife will not kill me in bed tonight!" - well everyone wil lbe pleased to know thatI survivced the night (and my dog has stil lnot bitten anyone)

;-)
As another child was attacked by a dog today I agree with -zorro-.
