I want to buy a gadget to check my blood sugar. I know that I don't 'need' one but I want to see how much my diet is affecting my blood sugar levels.

I will get fed up with taking the readings after a month or so, I don't want to spend too much money on it. It has to be easy to use (idiot proof).

Can anyone recommend a meter? I went to Amazon to have a look at what is for sale but there are millions of them and I don't know what I am looking for.

I have booked a phone appt with my GP but it will not be until the start of next month.. I will look into the Libre device and start a food diary.

I know that shouldn't have to ask about blood sugar problems as I should know all about it. I blame the Lithium for screwing up my brain, my kidneys and giving me neurological issues.

Thanks
You are far too hard on yourself. All things considered you ‘do’ very well .
Don't blame yourself for anything. It seems to be you've had a lot to cope with but I do blame the system for not connecting you with a diabetic specialist. My GP surgery has two nurses who are very well trained in helping people understand and cope with diabetes and I would have really struggled without their support. I consider myself very lucky.
I agree with barry.......my experience of Diabetic Control both in hospital and the district is utterly hopeless.
Not worth the money that is spent on it.
Sqad and I have very different approaches about the way we manage our diabetes but the important thing is we are both controlling it.
barry....;-)
