Does anyone have a recipe for choclate cracknel? It was a really chewy chocolate dessert, with I think raisins through it and we used to have it served with custard - it was lovely and I would love to try making it but can't find a recipe online anywhere. Does anyone else remember this dessert?

Also we used to have this pink stuff that was really good too - can't remember what it was called, but does anyone any idea how to make this? It was light and moussey and sweet - and bright pink! Thanks in advance

Yes I remember it but I don't know the recipe.
We were served it with a super, thick, synthetic cream.
When you tried to cut the cracknel with a spoon it used to fly all over the place because it was so hard because of this we called it Chocolate Concrete.
Another favorite pudding was Lemon Love Cake do you remember that one?

Thank you both.

I will try the recipe using the puffed wheat but I am sure I recall cornflakes being in the one we used to have - I guess dinner ladies probably have different versions.

Also I do remember it used to fly everywhere when you tried to dig your spoon in!!

Unfortunately I cannot remember the lemon love cake - what was this one like?
Gosh badabing (are you a sopranos fan btw?),I realise what you mean now, once you mentioned cornflakes! We had absolutely horrible school dinners, but that sticky dessert, with custard,I really loved! I'd forgotten all about it till now!
hello badabing i know you managed to get the recipe for chocolate cracknel, would you be able to let me know this recipe i would be so greatfull
I remember the chewy chocolate cracknell. We had it with a lime coloured type of blancmange. It was made with puffed wheat which made it chewy, not sugar puffs though, the one without sugar. I'd love to know what the pink stuff was and also how they made their creamy custard at the time. They would never have used cream. WE need an older dinner lady to tell us! Oh, we didn't have raisins in ours but you can put them in.
