I have downloaded a movie clip and whenever I try to play it I get a distorted wavy picture. The sound is fine. Is there something wrong with the file or is there something I can do to fix it? I think I need to download a codec but I've had no luck so far.

It sounds like a codec problem Here is a good web page for divx and codecs. Use gspot to determine the codec used then download it (the codec) from the web. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools

I downloaded gspot and identified the codec but I already have it. Is there any other possible reason for the clip not playing properly? Also, the file is an asf file and gspot is mainly for avi files.
It could be something wrong with the file to show that it's copyright and you can't film it etc, where did you get it from?
