No surprise to me when living in the UK, Baz. When told a parcel I'd not received had been delivered I checked my cameras.
It showed the courier throwing two parcels over a neighbour's side gate. One was mine. Gate was locked so the parcels sat in a puddle til the neighbours came home.
My neighbour ordered some books. He was out when the courier called so they were left in the dustbin. It was dustbin day......
The couriers I get don't even bother to knock these days, everything is just left against the front door.
Covid.
My neighbour found a parcel addressed to me in her barn .... four months after it had been delivered.
Yes, I find they knock/ wave and leave against the door. Although, I once had one marked "fragile" lobbed through a high open window :-)
covid is used as an excuse for so many things
I much prefer them to just leave it outside, than keep taking it back and returning at random times.
yes I have had things left in bins - once in my food waste bin, yuck, -in the rain, told it was delivered when it wasn't, told I wasn't in when I was (having taken a day off work to wait!). And so on.
If you complain the supplier and courier blame each other so you get nowhere.
If one insists on on-line shopping then this is the price you pay.

Makes you appreciate what the Royal Mail have to do to provide a proper service.
The courier isn't your problem. The supplier has to sort that out.
At least I wouldn't have a problem with parcels left in a bin, if we don't leave the bin out on the road on collection day, it won't be emptied.
one came to my house saying He had a parcel for my next-door neighbour
I said
Well You've got the wrong house then !

Was listening to rip off britain this morning .

He watched as the courier van drove past his house .
Later had a message saying that no one was in
I'm glad I don't live next door to johnny.
Did you query the non-delivery, Naomi?

I once had a package put in my recycling bin and I only found it when I was putting stuff in there on the day of bin collection! This was over 10 years ago.
Yes, I'd already got a replacement, tigger. I sent the original back.
Cool :o)
On our village Facebook page people regularly post a photo of a package on a doorstep saying "This is my package but it's not my doorstep/porch". Said package is usually reunited with intended recipient.
