False dichotomy... reducing emissions and switching to clean energy are examples of adaptation. Preventing something from getting worse is a good way of adapting to it... there is more to it than that but it is an important first step that every country will eventually need to make whether they like it or not.

If what we’re told is true, in my opinion it’s already too late. The world isn’t going to change its lifestyle drastically - it’s pie in the sky to believe - or even hope - it will, and therefore the best it can do is delay the inevitable.
In the meantime we can do something really positive in cleaning up the planet and giving our wildlife the chance it deserves of living for the time it has left without being killed by our disgustingly mindless disregard for its welfare.

You keep on reiterating this but it doesn't make it true. What nations will eventually need to do is to accept their limitations. They will eventually come round to understanding that they cannot control the climate - especially when there is no proper consensus among them. They may fiddle around at the edges (causing immeasurable economic and social harm in the meantime) but eventually the penny will drop. I just wish that would happen sooner rather than later.

Our present modern lifestyle is not ecologically sustainable new judge... we will eventually be forced by circumstances to consume less and produce fewer greenhouse gases and it really is irrelevant whether that is popular, whether it is comfortable, or whether or not people believe the science... an unsustainable lifestyle by definition cannot be sustained permanently. It's a when, not an if. The earlier we change, the easier it will be... and we've already left it quite late.

We will have to agree to differ. The root cause of almost all environmental problems is over population. Eventually nature will gain the upper hand and the human population will thankfully begin to shrink because there will not be the resources and the facilities to sustain such ridiculously high numbers. That will be the "when, not if" that you mention and that's how this will progress. Instead of fannying about with windmills and light bulbs governments could help by introducing regimes that deter or prevent excessive population growth. But they prefer to ignore that problem (when did you last hear a politician mention excessive population growth?) and restrict the comfort and convenience of those who are already here.
Well, I shouldn't bother too much about whether it's natural or man-made, because some scientists think we've already begun the next mass exctinction. And we can't do anything about it.
