Evening all, I have two mongrel dogs, similar in age ,and size one a dog the other a bitch. They have both been neutered and appear on the whole happy dogs. They are both eating and drinking as they normally do, however the dog will take himself off to sit in the shed on his own. Now the shed is not far from the back door and straight in my line of vision should I go to the door. Last night the little devil opened the back gate and took himself off for a late night stroll !! He spend a lot of time sitting by the back gate, almost as if he is waiting for it to be opened for him. I am a little concerned as he is a couch potato who like to keep me in sight as a rule. Although he has been neutered would a lady dog in heat in my neighbourhood be the reason he is trying so hard to escape? Any other suggestions most welcome.

The neutering of a dog is not guaranteed to stop their wanderings in search of a bitch on heat. I think that is what your dog is up to.
