I've been told by my dealer that my Focus ST delivery date has been delayed due to a) the production line being stopped throughout July and b) issues with the supply of the rear wings.

Quite frankly I don't believe this. Has anyone got any inside information to confirm this?? I've searched on Google but can't find anything.
Cheers.

typed in "ford focus st waiting list" and there is a claim of a 6 month waiting list
A site called sonnauto have 6 in stock.
When the new mini came out, my colleague bought one. The day she went to collect it, she was told that someone walked in off the street and and offered 1000 more than the advertised price, so they sold it there and then. My colleauge had no car. When she complained, they simply told her that if she didn't like it, they could find 10 who would. Always a risk when an item is is such hgh demand.
I suppose, for a performance vehicle like an ST, you'd want it to have tip top parts, not a quick fix part that's not quite right.
Why dont you believe them? If they have been upfront and kept you informed all along then it is quite likely that they are telling the truth, I work in the motor trade and factories do shut down for periods, And cars can be delayed due to manufacturers having insufficient parts.
Any date that a dealer gives you for delivery is an estimated one and there is little the dealer can do to change it if it slips back, Fixed dates just dont exist for reasons such as the ones you've experienced.
its a known FACT that in the motor industry they close down for 2/3 weeks at the end of july, into august for summer holidays, for their workers,i have a customer whos been waiting for a db9 for nearly 2 yrs,it will be worth the wait when you get it.
I experienced a similar thing when ordering a BMW the delivery date kept getting put back time after time.
they even had a price increase while i was waiting and they had the cheek to ask me for the difference!
i told the dealership to get lost thinking they might waive the extra 250. they wouldnt budge so i cancelled my order got my deposit back and went elsewhere
my step son has just bought a new golf GTDi and his delivery date has just been put back for another couple of week's... so your not on your own!
I don't know where the Focus ST is built but the holiday reason is quite likely. Parts can also be a problem as parts suppliers may not be able to keep up with Ford's demand for, in this case, rear spoilers.

I worked part time in a VW Fleet department, and still towards the end of April this year, I was quoting a 10-12 month wait for a factory ordered Golf GTI. As with the Golf GT TDI mentioned above, the delay would most likely be due to the fact that this particular model was updated in May/June this year, so it would be about now that factory orders start to come through. (It has been updated to look slightly closer to the GTI, to separate it from lesser models)

With regard to the Focus, I wouldn't worry too much about the dealer telling fibs. There can be many reason why a car is delayed. (ie: shipping conditions/delay from factory to port/parts etc). I wouldn't worry that your car is in the UK being thrashed by the salesmen, as they have hopefully already had a demonstrator to give them a taster of the car!

Thanks folks,

I wasn't aware that they closed down for holidays and just assumed that they'd make most of the parts themselves.

You've now put my mind to rest.
