Regarding Meghan's mother Dorien - has Dorien no family ie sisters brothers or cousins that could have been invited to that wedding - it was a sad day for Dorien to carry that burden. Sorry for off the mark question. But I have a sad life. LOL

Sad day?

Going to your Daughter's wedding, am I missing something?
Doria, yes it did seem weird no uncles, aunties, cousins were invited.
According to Wikepedia:
Doria Ragland has two older maternal half-siblings (Joseph Junior and Saundra Johnson) plus a younger paternal half-brother, Joffrey Ragland.
I agree jj. How awful would the MOB feel being the only family member present in a crowd of thousands .
Not odd at all, families are a total conundrum. And weddings bring out the best and worst in families.
I wouldn’t invite cousins I haven’t seen in years, or half cousins once removed if I didn’t ever see them.
I think Dorien would have been very proud of her daughter on the day.
What she thinks now is anyone’s guess.
Having read that Dorian does have other family members, I am now somewhat puzzled that they were not invited to the wedding - and yet Oprah Winfrey, who had never met Meghan (or so I am informed), was. So, Meghan is isolated from all her family except for her mum. This does indicate rather a problem with familial relationships - and begs the question Why?
I recollect that one other family member attended the wedding but I don't know who it was.
Archbishop Oilwell perhaps, after all his wanderings around the planet with BP, perhaps?

Mamy - where did I say it was a sad day for Dorien.

ooops - I did say a sad day for Dorien - sorry
No where jj but standto be corrected.
You've just corrected me jj lol
I'm not sure it's all that uncommon. When my nephews got married, I think me, my daughter and her partner were the main invitees from our family...plus my late sisters first husband and their daughter +partner. There were/are dozens of cousins/ second cousins who weren't invited...and they probably wouldn't have come. My nephews are mixed race, and I don't think the Italian side ever *approved*. Both brides families are huge...Italian and Jewish/ Puerto Rican. There was masses of them at both weddings. I know it will be the same if my daughter and her partner decided to marry.
Why invite people you're not close to, or who have little or no place in your life?
Meghan had the 2 most important people in her life with her...the ones who matter.
She's fallen out with all her family except her mother and now she's done the same with her husband's family.
Doria didn't look sad. She looked extremely dignified. And she has conducted herself with grace, maintaining a dignified silence throughout. What a lady! Her daughter might learn from her.
she has fallen out with just about everyone at some time or another... can't ALL be wrong !
Her Mother needs to have a strong word with her !
