It's OK to flog them mercilessly round the racecourse, but to use one to sit on when it's dead - oh no that's despicable to these over-sensitive folk.

The British Horseracing Authority said it was "appalled" by the photograph and that Elliott's behaviour "deeply undermined" the industry's welfare values. What welfare values ? ? ? ? And "welfare" implies a living creature anyway.

'and apparently owners are leaving him in droves' GOOD !!
Ta for that, APG, but 8 horses from one set of owners is hardly 'droves'. He will, no doubt, be sorry to see those animals leave his stables but as long as Gigginstown (owned by the O'Leary's) remain supportive he should be ok. Providing that any punishment for his actions does not include the loss of his licence.
I would also imagine that any of the Cheveley Park owned horses earmarked for Cheltenham will still run.
Ken its early days. Even if owners support him, if their horses can't run in England they will leave. Eight horses represents about £ 45,000 a month in lost training fees, plus the Stud will no longer send their 2 year olds to him so it is kind of a big deal.
Aunt Polly, i'm not trying to play down the effect CP's decision will have on the stable, but i thought you were inferring there was an exodus of his stables. As he is far more renowned for his National Hunt horses, i don't readily know just how many Cheveley Park juveniles he would have been earmarked for.
Whatever the outcome he has lost Chevely Park Stud as clients. He may be a NH trainer but he trained the unbeaten Bumper horse Sir Gerhard which has now been transferred to Willie Mullins , so he likely has other Stores coming in on a regular basis for Bumpers. I am wondering if the deceased horse was bred by CP, unfortunately I can't check with Wetherby's as they did not release the name.
